Occupational Therapy Assessment

‘Occupational therapy takes a “whole-person approach” to both mental and physical health and wellbeing and enables individuals to achieve their full potential.

Occupational therapists:

  • Enable clients to function at an optimal level, despite barriers
  • Look at how activities which the person needs or wants to do, can be modified or adapted, to make them easier
  • Explore how clients feel about themselves and their ability to tackle problems
  • Look at how the physical and social environment can be altered, so that restrictions are reduced

Our Occupational Therapists are skilled in assessment of clients across the lifespan. Our assessments use both standardised and clinical observations and both the client and their family and care givers are included in the assessment process. This enables us to ascertain a clear picture of an individuals current functional abilities and to identify the areas in which therapeutic input is required.

Following a thorough assessment, therapeutic goals are set with the client and their parents/care givers and this forms the basis of our work with them.
